                              ORDINANCE NO.   9902 
                  
                  
                   AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHATTANOOGA CITY CODE,
                   PART II, CHAPTER 24, BY ADDING A NEW SECTION
                   24-457, RELATIVE TO OPERATION OF IMPROPER
                   VEHICLES UPON STREETS, ROADS OR HIGHWAYS
                   WITHIN THE CITY.
                  
                  
                                                    
                  
                  
       	    	 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
       CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE:
       	    	 SECTION 1.  That Chattanooga City Code, Part II, Chapter
       24, be and is hereby amended so as to add a new Section 24-457 as 

       follows:
            Sec. 24-457.   Operation of improper vehicles.
           
            	 No vehicle, truck, engine, or tractor of any kind,
            whether such vehicle be propelled by steam, gasoline, or
            otherwise, shall be permitted to operate upon any
            street, road, highway, or other public thoroughfare
            within the City which, either by reason of its weight or
            the character of its wheels, will materially injure the
            surface or foundation of such street, road, highway,
            public thoroughfare, including the bridges thereon,
            unless otherwise authorized by permit or approval from
            the Department of Public Works.
           
           
       	    	 SECTION 2.  That this ordinance shall be effective two
       (2) weeks from and after its passage as provided by law.
